We have a place for you!

First Lutheran was established on the foundation of community. Whether you're eager to get involved in service or seeking a fellowship group to connect with, everyone is welcome.

Mission Team

  • What is the Mission Team?

The Mission Team has a wide range of opportunities to live your faith, including:

--Monthly Noisy Can Offerings where the congregation pools together their change and donates to local organizations such as the Galveston Diaper Bank.

--Monthly drives for organizations in need--such as cleaning supplies for the Resource & Crisis Center; and board games for the VA of Houston.

--Volunteer opportunities with Austin Elementary to help kiddos who need uniforms or other school supplies.

    And more!

  • What is the "Why" of the Mission Team?

The Mission Team supports two of First Lutheran's Commissions:

Community: The Mission Team supports opportunities for folks to grow in authentic relationships both in and outside the congregation through fellowship and service!

Welcome: The Mission Team seeks to offer radical hospitality to neighbors in need. Whether it's advocating for food justice, providing socks to folks experiencing housing insecurity, or showing up for kiddos who need school supplies--we believe in Christ, "We've never met a stranger."

Community Meals

Feed Galveston

Feed Galveston is a community organization that packages and distributes nutritious meals for those in our own community that do not have access.

  • What is Feed Galveston?

Feed Galveston is a two pronged ministry response to food insecurity on Galveston Island and in Galveston County.

    1. We host two yearly food packing events where we pack 100,000 nutritious nonperishable meals for the Galveston County Food Bank.

    2. In partnership with Galveston's Own Farmer's Market--we volunteer for two monthly meals at Gulf Breeze Apartments & Access Care of Coastal Texas

We see these ministries as direct responses to our calling by Jesus to love our neighbors--nourishing body and soul with big smiles and delicious food.

  • Do You Accept Donations?

    Absolutely!

It costs over $44,000 to pack 100,000 meals and cook monthly meals at ACCT! We'd love your help making this possible! To donate just click here and scroll down to Feed Galveston. Every penny goes towards feeding a neighbor in need.

Men's Club

Men's Club is the heart and the hands of the congregation. The men of the congregation get together in fellowship and work on action projects. Whether that is making meals for the community, helping out around the church, or assisting other community groups, the Men's Club is always there to lend a helping hand and lead by example. These men exemplify what it means to be a Christian leader in the congregation.

Special Interest Groups

Bake and Bible is a group that meets on Tuesday or Wednesday to come together in fellowship and bake desserts for the community meals. While the desserts are in the oven, there is a short Bible study. The treats go out into the community, either to ACCT or the Gulf Breeze Apartments.

Craft with Christ is a fellowship group that meets monthly to create! This artistic group focus on practical art- things you can use or put up in your home. There is no experience required. All are welcome to join as we learn, experiment, and create together.

Please check the church calendar for the next event date.
