Reformation Sunday - Oct 25th  Wear red in celebration of Reformation Sundaywhen we remember Martin Luther and the Reformers standing firm in the Gospel and calling for the reform of the church. We continue in this call for the church to be shaped more and more into the likeness of Christ our Lord. Wear red!
Confirmation This Sunday During the worship service this coming Sunday, Amanda Coles and Evelyn Gault will confirm their faith. Amanda and Evelyn were to have been confirmed on Pentecost, but because of the pandemic their celebration was displaced. Christian Sympathy is expressed to family and friends of Donald Gangl. Donald peacefully died early this past Saturday morning.
Welcome into the Church Family Harvey Michael Ruthenbeck was baptized at the Sunday evening worship service on October 18th. He is the new born son of Michael and Alexandra Ruthenbeck of Galveston.

Let’s Talk – Exploring Racial Justice as God’s People Jesus noticed those on the edges of society – Jesus welcomed the powerless and the vulnerable—Jesus showed God’s heart toward all people. Yet, racial issues continue – including in our nation. One of the key paths forward is honest listening and reflection. If you would like to be part of such an effort, join Pastor Rhoades in a book study of “I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness” by Austin Channing Brown. The group will read the book and gather for six discussion sessions. The hope for goal is expanding our understanding for the sake of following the path of Jesus’ love in a difficult world. SIGN UP today to order your copy of the book for $20 and to participate. The group started on October 4, at 4:00 pm.

Kids' Mission All elementary aged kids are invited to join in Secret Agent of Godtraining. This week we have Lesson 6: Paying Taxes on our website: At the end of each lesson, your Agent will be given a top secret mission that will help make the world a better place. If you have questions or would like a TOP SECRET SUPPLY BAG, please contact NEXT WEEK, Oct 25 at noon, we have a special opportunity for the young secret agents to gather virtually to swap secret mission stories. Email Emily to get the Go-To-Meeting link.

Thank you for your support of the mission and ministry of our parish. 2020 has been an unusual year – yet God continues to call us to live into the ministry and mission of the Gospel. Your support helps us to do that. Working together we can end the year strong over these last months. Thank you for your support!

In-Person Worship Has Resumed Join us for in-person worship Sundays at 10:00 am or at 5:30 pm. Our ON-LINE worship is also available. As with our re-opening earlier this summer, the Church Council will keep watch on COVID-19 case numbers and should our area re-enter into a spike, the Church Council will do what is best for our community. When returning to in-person worship everyone will need to follow the following practices:

  1. If you are not feeling well or have a fever – remain at home!
  2. Sanitize your hands at the entrance of the building.
  3. Wear a mask/face-covering at all times (except when moving it to receive Holy Communion).
  4. Socially distance and refrain from all hand shaking or hugging.

We look forward to seeing you in person when you are ready to return!
WISH BOARD NEED: We need to replace the current sound board in the sanctuary to a digital sound board. With the new video equipment almost in place, we now recognize that we need the digital sound board to properly function with the cameras.  The estimated cost should be under $3500. If you are interested in assisting with this as a memorial or honorarium let the church office know!

HOME Holy Communion Package: As we have entered into a time of observing weekly communion virtually in our homes, you may contact the Church Office to receive a package of wafers for the celebration of Holy Communion. A bag with a month’s supply will be brought out to your car while observing safe practices. Luther reminds us that the sacrament is valid when we trust the promise of Christ in the sacrament. And, as we confess belief in the communion of saints, we trust God’s presence in our virtual gatherings for worship. Please contact the Church Office as 409-762-8477 to arrange for your package of wafers.
